Team Effort Wins Derby Match for Title Push

Communities United 5 - 0 Wilmslow Sports Colts       Saturday 03/02/07

Saturday saw the results of what good training can achieve. With Utd. now working more on the ugly side of their game, the football part now seems to be seeing the benefits.

Right from the word go Utd. controlled this game, apart from the odd scare where goalkeeper Thomas Taylor pulled off some fantastic saves. The whole team seemed to be contributing to the way in which Utd. simply tore the opposition apart.

A very early goal coming from the in form Joe Myres set the tone. Some good work from Lawrence Taylor in the middle and then some great wing play form Dean Musa set up what was a great finish from close range by Myres.

Utd. were in control in most areas of the pitch but again Max Momber failed to settle quickly and goalkeeper Taylor had to save him from embarrassment. Manager Allan Watson brought on Joe Mooney in place of Darragh Collumb at the back and the team seemed to gain some composure to push on for more goals.

Next to score was the influential Lawrence Taylor. Taylor was breaking up the opposition play in the middle and making some truly fantastic passes from all areas of the pitch. Taylor was soon rewarded for his hard work and scored a good goal after some more good wing play by Dean Musa. Taylor bringing the ball down and drilling it into the back of the net from close range.

By the time the second third came round Utd. were more confident. The pitch wasn’t at its best but the players from both sides made a good game of it. Thankfully the otherwise sleepy Momber in the first third was now well awake and he was making some great tackles at the back and linking up well with the midfield. Wilmslow Sports seemed to smell blood for a short spell making goalkeeper Taylor aware that one lapse would let them in.

Only one word could describe Utd.’s next three goals, FOOTBALL. The passing they were doing was immense. Most of them were just simple effective one twos which the Sports had no answer for. Dean Musa got one, Matthew Miller, and then Ollie Harrison.

The final third did not produce any goals but the entertainment was there. Sports pushed on but Utd. held firm. A good game and some good form now sees Utd. push on for the League Title!

Man Of The Match: Thomas Taylor
Scorers: Joe Myres, Lawrence Taylor, Matthew Miller, Dean Musa and Olliver Harrison.
