United Progress in F.A. CupIrlam Rangers '10A' 1 - 7 Communities United '10' Saturday 24/03/07
Communities United progressed into the next round of the cup this weekend with a comfortable win against a very average Irlam Rangers. For the first time this season it was United who went into the lead. Two early goals from Joe Myers and Ollie Harrison starting the rout.
Not a lot to write about in this game apart from the good all round team effort and the return to form of Darragh Collum. Darragh contributed to this game with his running power and determination to win. He came on in the second third and immediately linked up well with Lawrence Taylor up front, in the new formation of 1-3-2 deployed by the manager. It took him a while to get on the score sheet but after some great vision from Lawrence Taylor, he was put through on a one on one which he buried. A pleasing performance after what has been largely a disappointing season from Darragh’s point of view after losing the captaincy to Max Momber earlier in the season.
More goals came in the final third after conceding one in the second third, after the management tried to add some composure to the mid- field where the ball was being lost.
A good all round performance which sets the team up for the final league game away, against the Colts next week. They must win to keep up their hopes of promotion this season.
