United Cruise to Easy Victory

Broad Heath Merlins U10 0 - 7 CUFC U10

Communities Utd. under 10’s finally hit top form on Saturday to give themselves some much needed confidence. Utd. dismantled a poor Broadheath side to seal their third consecutive win in the league and now look to be in a much stronger position, with a game in hand over top placed side Ashton on Mersey.

Three goals for Sam Brunt, a brace for Lawrence Taylor and another two for Oliver Harrison gave Utd. a well deserved win. Utd. started the game with real urgency. The passing was quick, they pressed the ball and got stuck in on all the tackles right from kick off to unnerve Broadheath. This game looked to be won in the first third after it ended 3-0 in the away teams favour. A quick strike from Sam Brunt saw Utd. take an early lead just after a great save was made by Thomas Taylor to deny Broadheath the lead.

The second third was totally different. Manager Allan Watson made some changes to the side that started the game and for some reason the changes did not have the desired effect on any attacking play. Utd’s passing seemed to break down at times and the fluency which they had been playing with seemed to desert them.

Broadheath now really had the bit between their teeth as they sensed the drop in play from Utd. Thomas Taylor had to make two point blank saves to deny Broadheath a goal to get back into the game. Utd. went to sleep and were lucky they had Taylor in goal.

The final third was something special. Once again manager Allan Watson rang the changes as he looked to wake Utd. up. Goals were the order of the day from the manager and he got just what he asked for. Utd. started to pass the ball again. They used the flanks well this time and got the wide players involved. Ollie Harrison was now really testing the opposition, putting some great two touch passing together with Lawrence Taylor in the middle, who also had an awesome game. Dean Musa also chipped in with some hard work and in the end it all looked to pay off for Utd., when they scored four goals in the space of ten minutes and could have easily scored double that figure.

Utd. will take some real positive thoughts from this result, which saw Matthew Miller make his league debut and Joe Myres looked to be a lot better than in recent weeks. You had to feel sorry for Myres as all game he did everything right but failed to score.

Utd. now play away to Fletcher Moss B who beat them on the opening day of the season. We now look for Utd. to dig deep and carry on this fine form.
